I am a HUGE fan of the Halloween film Hocus Pocus. To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the film I decided to make the iconic Spell Book seen in the film into a cake! You will see so many versions of this on the internet but I swear mine is the easiest. No fondant required!
You will need:
-2 rectangle 13X9 baked chocolate cake
-Black and white candy melts
-Gummy eyeball(Purchased mine from Walmart)
Stack the cooled baked rectangle chocolate cake on a board/tray with chocolate frosting in between the layers. Then frost the entire cake with chocolate frosting. Put some white frosting in a pipette bag and frost lines on 3 sides of the cake to be the pages of the Spell Book.
Now it is time to start decorating and making the embellishments. Melt the white and black candy melts according to the directions. Then place into a pipette bag and pipe a long snake shape and some small coiled snake shapes like how you see on the book onto some wax paper and allow to firm. I also did the metal latch/buckle you see around the eye. I used the image below as reference when I made my cake.
Make some gray frosting(mix the white and the black) and pipe a long rectangle on the front side of the book. Then place your long snake you made out of candy melts on top of that. Place the gummy eyeball on the other side and place your round candy melt buckle piece around that. Then on opposite ends of the eyeball place your candy melt snake embellishments.
Next pipe lines with the black frosting of where the stitch work is on the spell book. Mix some of the chocolate and white frosting to create a light brown color and draw small lines as stitches over the black lines you drew.
With just some frosting and creativity you can easily make a Hocus Pocus Spell Book Cake at home!
Enjoy and Happy Halloween!!
This is a super simple Halloween recipe idea that is perfect for parties. 🎃
To make the Frankenstein Guacamole Dip you will only need:
-Guacamole dip (mine was store bought)
-Black refried beans
-Blue corn tortilla chips.
Start by placing the guacamole on a tray and shape into a square. Then place some sour cream in a sandwich bag and cut off the tip. Pipe two circle for the eyes. Then slice a black olive for the pupils of the eyes. Next take two whole black olives and place on each side as the "bolts" of Frankenstein. Then take your refried black beans and pipe it out of a sandwich bag to make the nose, mouth and stitches. Lastly, place the blue corn tortilla chips on top as the "hair".
It is finally pumpkin Spice Season!! 😃I have been really into Dunkin's new donuts fries and I thought why not make some pumpkin spice donut fries? This recipe is so incredibly easy and calls for very minimal ingredients.
-1 can of Pillsbury Grands Biscuits
-2-3 tbs of sugar
-1 tbs of Pumpkin Pie Spice
Role out the biscuits slightly and cut into 4 strips like french fries.
Pour about one inch of vegetable oil into a pot and set on medium high heat. Place the strips of dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown(it will fry very quickly). Then place onto a paper towel on a plate.
Mix the pumpkin pie spice and sugar in a bowl and then roll your donut fries into the sugar mixture.
Now you have super tasty donut fries that have a hint of pumpkin spice! Easy and delicious!🎃
It is National Waffle Week! I absolutely LOVE waffles, it is my favorite breakfast food. I decided to make some ✨MAGICAL✨ waffles! If you are a Unicorn lover then you will love this idea for a Unicorn Waffle.🦄 It is super simple and a great breakfast treat for the kids.
You will need:
-thawed Cool Whip
-black decorating gel
-sugar cone ice cream cone
First divide your Cool Whip into separate bowls and add a drop of different colored food coloring to each and mix. I used pink, purple and blue. This is going to be the hair of the unicorn. Then place each colored Cool Whip into a sandwich bag and cut off the tip. Pipe the hair onto your waffle.
Next, using you black decorating gel create the eyes of your Unicorn.
It simply isn't a Unicorn without the horn right? Cut off the tip of a sugar cone ice cream cone. For a special touch you can spray it with gold color mist. Then place this on top.
Lastly, you can add sprinkles, I used heart sprinkles. You can even use edible glitter to make the waffle look more magical. One thing I wish I would have added was some ears. You could probably do so using large marshmallows.
It is National Sandwich Month and I've got the mother of all sandwiches! Grilled cheese sandwiches are my absolutely fave so I decided to take it up a notch. I made a Flamin' Hot Cheetos Grilled Cheese and boy oh boy it's goooood!
-small bag of Flamin' Hot Cheetos crushed
-Shredded cheddar cheese
-two slices of white bread
On a plate, spread some cheese sauce onto each slice. Then sprinkle some of the crushed cheetos on each slice on top of the cheese sauce. Next sprinkle some shredded cheddar cheese and close your sandwich together.
Spread butter on the outside of each side of the sandwhich and then cover with a coating of crushed cheetos. Lastly, grill the sandwich on a buttered skillet until the cheese is melted,
Say whaaatt? Melt-proof ice cream? July is National Ice Cream Month so I wanted to make a unique ice cream inspired treat. This recipe is for very delicious Cheesecake Ice Cream Cones! It is so easy and won't melt like regular ice cream. This is a cute idea for parties and you can get very creative by flavoring the cream cheese filling and decorating the cones.
-8 oz of softened cream cheese
-1 conatiner of thawed Cool Whip
-1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
-1/2 cup of powdered sugar
-food coloring(I used pink)
In a bowl blend the cream cheese with half of the container of Cool Whip(reserve the rest), vanilla and powdered sugar. Then mix in a few drops of food coloring. I decided to use pink so that it looks like strawberry "ice cream." Then place the cheesecake filling in a piping bag or you can use a sandwich bag and just cut off the tip. Pipe the cheesecake filling into the sugar cone. Then pipe the Cool Whip that you saved as the whipped cream topping. Lastly decorate with sprinkles and top with a cherry.

-2 loaves of pound cake cubed
-1 can of strawberry topping
-1 8 oz container of whipped cream cheese
-1 tub of Cool Whip thawed
Place the cubed pound cake on the bottom of a casserole dish as the bottom layer of the cake. Next spread the strawberry topping. Combine the cream cheese and cool whip together then spread that as the top and final layer of the cake. Lastly, apply the blueberries and the strawberries on the top of the cake to decorate it as the American flag. Super easy and delicious!
Happy 4th of July!
June is Pride month which is an annual celebration of the LGBT community. If you are bursting with Gay pride or just love all the beautiful colors of the rainbow, you will enjoy these Rainbow Waffles for breakfast!
You will need:
-Food coloring for the different colors of the rainbow
Follow the instructions according to the box of your pancake/waffle mix. You will want to make sure the batter isn't too runny. So don't add too much water. Once you make the batter separate the batter into different bowls and then add food coloring to make the different colors of the rainbow. I just did red, yellow, green and blue.
Then place each batch of colored batter into a sandwich bag and cut the tip.
Spray some cooking spray on you hot waffle maker and you can begin making your Rainbow Waffles. Begin by pouring a circle of the blue batter in the center of the waffle maker. Then pour the green around the edges of the blue, followed by the yellow with the red batter being the outer ring of the waffle.
Once cooked, enjoy with some fluffy "clouds" of whipped cream.
Enjoy and Happy Pride Month!
June is National Camping Month! I really love to go camping with my family. It is always a good time filled with laughs, eating junk food and of course roasting marshmallows over an open fire. Here is how to make campfire cupcakes!
You will need:
-yellow and orange starburst candy
-thin pretzel sticks
Frost the cupcake with the green frosting to form the "grass."
Then take your yellow and orange starburst and roll it together (you can microwave for like 3 seconds to make it more pliable). This will be the "fire" and just simply tear pieces of it and create the fire in the center.
Next create a Teepee with 3 pretzel sticks around the fire.
Lastly, put two mini marshmallows on a toothpick and with a lighter you can roasted them slightly and then add it to the cupcake as a final touch.
