It is National Back to School Month and I decided to take a trip down memory lane and throw it back to the 90s! I loved the 90s! From the Spice Girls and butterfly clips to the best television shows like Friends and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the 90s were totally rad! Wild Berry Pop Tarts were very popular for the cool design and signature berry flavor. The filling consisted of blueberry, strawberry and raspberry. Here is how you can make your own!
Ingredients: -Pillsbury pie crust -Berry filling (I used raspberry and blackberry preserves) Icing: -1/2 cup of powdered sugar -1 tsp of vanilla -2 tbs of milk -neon purple and blue food coloring Directions: -Roll out the pie crusts. Lay the pie crusts on top of each other and cut the corners to make a large square. Then cut into 3 rectangles. With one pie crust package I was able to make 3 Pop tarts. -Combine the berry preserves. I just used two(Blackberry and Raspberry) but you can use whatever you like. Spoon the jelly in the center of a square pie crust and be sure you don't put too much and not close to the edge. Then cover with another piece of square pie crust. -Seal the edges with a fork and poke some holes in the center with the fork so that air can be released when it bakes. -Bake at 375 for 12-15 mins just until it they are golden brown. -Combine the ingredients for the icing. If it is too runny just add more powdered sugar. -Divide into separate bowls and color one purple and the other blue. -When the Pop Tarts are completely cool then you can begin icing. First apply the purple icing to the entire Pop Tart. Let it dry for a few minutes then drizzle the blue across. Enjoy!
