I am usually in charge of bringing dessert on Thanksgiving. Cupcakes are always so easy to put together and is my favorite dessert for any Holiday. Here is an easy way to make festive and fun Thanksgiving cupcakes. Pumpkin Pie Cupcake Simply frost a cupcake with orange frosting. Make pie crust frosting by coloring white frosting with a hint of yellow food coloring. Pipe a ribbon of your 'pie crust" frosting around the edge of the cupcake. Then just pipe a small amount of white frosting in the center for whipped cream. Cherry Pie Cupcake Frost your cupcake with some white frosting to act as a glue for the cherries. Take red candy coated peanuts and apply them on top of the cupcake and these will be you cherries. I found the red candy coated peanuts at the Dollar Tree but really any small red candies could work. Then take the pie crust frosting you made earlier and pipe a criss cross pattern across the cupcake. Then pipe a ribbon around the edge of the cupcake to finish the crust. Cornucopia Cupcake Frost the cupcake(I used chocolate frosting). Then take some Bugle chips and dust slightly with cinnamon. Place the Bugle chip in the center of the cupcake. I then used Reese's Pieces candy pouring out of the Bugle chip. Turkey Cupcake Frost a cupcake with chocolate frosting. Then pipe the Turkey's head with chocolate frosting. Add candy candy eyes and use an orange Reese's Pieces for the beak. I melted some red and yellow candy melts and pipe a feather shape onto wax paper and let them harden. I then placed the candy melted feathers behind the head on the cupcake. Who doesn't love a delicious Banana Split Sundae in the summer? 🍨 July is National Ice Cream Month and I decided to make some tasty Banana Split inspired cupcakes! Yum!
To make the banana cupcakes you will need: Ingredients: -1 1/2 cups of flour -3/4 cup of sugar -1 tsp of baking powder -1/2 tsp of baking soda -1/2 cup of melted butter -4 mashed bananas -2 eggs -1/2 ts of vanilla extract Topping: -pink frosting -white frosting -Chocolate Ganache(or chocolate frosting) -rainbow sprinkles -Maraschino cherries Directions: Combine all of the dry ingredients first in a bowl for your banana cupcakes and mix well. Then add your wet ingredients and combine. Place into cupcake liners and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Once the cupcakes are cool the fun part is decorating! I placed vanilla and pink frosting into individual piping bags(cut the tips) and then placed both into a larger piping bag to create a swirl of the two colors to mimic vanilla and strawberry ice cream. You can also use sandwich bags. Top with either a Chocolate Ganache or just simply melt chocolate frosting slightly to be your fudge of the banana split cupcake. Then sprinkle with some rainbow sprinkles and lastly top with a cherry! Did you know Sesame Street is celebrating their 50th Anniversary? Incredible! Who is your favorite character? I love Cookie Monster and Big Bird. May is National Foster Care month and they recently introduced their newest character Karli, a young muppet in foster care. With nearly 443,000 children in foster care this is such an important topic. I decided to make some Sesame Street cupcakes including the latest muppet friend Karli.
I used a sandwich bag and got creative with my piping technique. Fold one corner of the sandwich bag in half and tape it, Then fill it with frosting and then poke holes with a toothpick to create the look I used on our muppet friends. I used an orange peanut M & M for Elmo's nose and half an oreo for Cookie Monster, Elmo and Oscar's mouth. I used banana Laffy Taffy to create Big Bird's beak and a pink pearl candy for Karli's nose. Enjoy! June is National Camping Month! I really love to go camping with my family. It is always a good time filled with laughs, eating junk food and of course roasting marshmallows over an open fire. Here is how to make campfire cupcakes! You will need: -Chocolate cupcakes -Green frosting -yellow and orange starburst candy -thin pretzel sticks -toothpick -mini marshmallows Directions: Frost the cupcake with the green frosting to form the "grass." Then take your yellow and orange starburst and roll it together (you can microwave for like 3 seconds to make it more pliable). This will be the "fire" and just simply tear pieces of it and create the fire in the center. Next create a Teepee with 3 pretzel sticks around the fire. Lastly, put two mini marshmallows on a toothpick and with a lighter you can roasted them slightly and then add it to the cupcake as a final touch. Happy camping! Every March I really look forward to sipping on a McDonald's Shamrock Shake. So i decided to make Shamrock Shake Cupcakes!
Ingredients: -1 box of white cake mix -2 tsp of Mint extract -Green Food coloring Topping: -white frosting(store bought more homemade) -Maraschino cherries -Red and white paper straws(trimmed to size) Directions: Combine the necessary ingredients according to the box of your cake mix. Then add the mint extract and a few drops of green food coloring to get it to the green color you desire. Line a cupcake pan with green cupcake liners, pour in batter and bake according to instructions. I baked mine at 350 degrees for about 18 minutes. Once the cupcakes are cool, use a pipette bag to frost with white frosting. Top with a maraschino cherry and cut a piece of a red and white paper straw to accent the cupcake to look like a shake.
