I have always wanted to make sugar skull cookies but I figured it would be challenging. I found a way to do easily and it is a great activity for kids.

Ingredients:
-5 cups of flour
-2 tsp of baking powder
-1 tsp of salt
-1 1/2 cups of softened butter
-2 cups of sugar
-1 tsp of vanilla extract
-4 eggs

Royal Icing
-2 egg whites
-1 cup of powdered sugar
-1/2 tsp of cream of tartar

You will also need gel food coloring for decorating.

Directions:
Cream the butter and sugar until smooth. Then add the eggs and vanilla. Continue to mix.
Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together and slowly add to the wet mixture.
Once mixed well make the dough into a ball and wrap with plastic wrap and place in the fridge overnight or for 6 hours.
Pre-heat the oven to 325 degrees.
Take the dough out of the fridge to soften. Then flour your surface and rolling pin and begin to roll out the dough. Use a skull cookie cutter to cut into skull shapes.
Place cookies onto a greased cookie sheet and bake for about 10 minutes until golden brown.
Combine the ingredients of the royal icing in a bowl. once the cookies are cool. dip the front of the cookie into the icing and place on a wire rack to dry and harden.
Once the icing is hard go ahead and decorate the skulls with gel  food coloring.

I have shared this once before on my blog but it is such a fun Sugar skull idea that I have to share it again. The dollar store sells plastic skulls that can  easily be made into sugar skulls. You can spray paint them or paint with acrylic paint. You can also add glitter, jewels and accessories. this is a very inexpensive and fun craft idea.

What is a Zombie party without some brains!!
Brain cupcakes are super easy to make. Just add a few drops of red food coloring to white frosting. Place the frosting in a pipette bag and cut the tip. Draw a line down the middle and some squiggles to the edge across the side of the cupcake. Then repeat to the other side. To make the brains look bloody add some red gel food coloring.

Intestines never tasted so good! Pizza intestines make for a great recipe for your Zombie affair.

Ingredients:
-1 box of Puff Pastry Sheets
-Tomato sauce
-Pepperoni
-Mozzarella cheese

Directions:
-Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
-Make sure the puff pastry sheets are thawed and cut the sheet(2 come in a box) into 3 strips,
-Place tomato sauce down the middle, then add pepperoni and mozzarella cheese.
-Pinch the edges together to close the pastry sheet(you can apply a little water to the edges). Then place the "intestine"  on a greased pan. Apply this same method to all the rest of the sheets to form intestines. Connect them to each other in the pan making the pastry sheets into an "S" like shape to form intestines.
- Cut a few slits and apply extra tomato sauce the make the intestines look more bloody. You can apply an egg wash finish to make the dough shiny.
-Bake for 20 minutes.

Who doesn't love a tasty green Witch finger? If you have a Halloween party coming up, here are some easy Witch themed treat ideas.

Shortbread Witch Fingers
Ingredients:
-1 cup of softened butter
-1/2 cups of confectioners sugar
-2 tsp of vanilla extract
-2 cups of flour
-green food coloring
-Whole almonds for the finger nails

Directions:
In a bowl, mix the butter and sugar. Add the vanilla and a few drops of green food coloring. Mix well and gradually add the flour.
Flour your hands and grab about a tablespoon of dough. Shape into a finger. I created two knobs on the finger to be knuckles.
Place on a greased cookie sheet. With a butter knife on the surface of the finger slice a few lines on the knuckles. At the tip of the finger place an almond to be the creepy finger nail.
Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes until the edges are brown.
Super easy and tasty!

Witch Cupcakes
You will need:
-Oreos
-frosting
-candy corn
-Hershey Kisses
-Decorative stripes straws
-Black foam paper

Directions:
Make whatever kind of cupcakes you want (homemade or store bought). To make the Witch Hat split in half an Oreo and scrape away the filling. On the top of the Oreo place a drop of frosting. Then place an unwrapped Hershey kiss in the center of  where you put the frosting(you will want enough frosting to secure the Hershey kiss and when you press it frosting comes out underneath). Then cut off the yellow of a candy corn and place on the front of the Hat where there is some frosting(this is the buckle).
For the Witch feet, cut in half a striped straw. Then with black foam paper cut out two Witch shoes. Then glue the Witch shoes to the end of the straw (I used a glue gun).
Then simply insert your Witch feet and hat on your cupcake.
Enjoy these WICKED Treats!!
