Hot chocolate is the best cure to a cold winter day! It is very simple to make homemade hot chocolate and I decided to "Emojify" my hot chocolate by adding emoji meringues!
Ingredients: -2 cups of milk -4 tbs of unsweetened cocoa powder -4 tbs of sugar -1 tsp of vanilla extract -1 pinch of salt Directions: -In a sauce pan over medium heat pour in the milk. Wisk in the cocoa and stir well. -Then add the sugar, vanilla and salt. -Once mixed well remove from stove top and pour into mugs. Enjoy with marshmallows or whipped cream! Meringues are a nice light treat and I decided to have fun and make Emoji meringues! I was inspired by my favorite youtuber Ro of "Nerdy Nummies". I followed her recipe for the "Poo " emoji merigngues. You can find that recipe here.
For the smiley emojis I used the following recipe; Ingredients: -3 tsp of meringue powder -1/2 cup of sugar -1/4 cup of water -1/2 tsp of vanilla extract -yellow food coloring Directions: -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. -Beat the meringue powder, half of the sugar and water for a few minutes. Then gradually beat in the rest of the sugar, vanilla extract and a few drops of yellow food coloring. Make sure meringue mxture is stiff and forms peaks. - Line a cookie sheet with pachment paper. -Place about a tbs of the meringue mixture on the parchment paper and smooth out into a circular cookie shape. -Bake for 10 minutes. Then turn off the oven and let the meringues sit in the oven for an hour. -Once cool, decorate with royal icing. |
